JOHANNESBURG - This weekend, you have the chance to register to vote.

Over 100,000 young voters have already registered.

But the IEC is still not satisfied with the numbers.

It's raising concerns over apathy by first-time voters.

Political analyst Ongama Mtimka says political interest is not as high as it was pre-democracy.

"Evidence has shown that the more mature young people are, the more interested they become are in politics because they become political citizens who are more aware of the consequences of the failure of the political system," he said.
