JOHANNESBURG - There are at least 16 confirmed cases of MPOX in South Africa.
The health department has announced that three more people have contracted the viral disease, with one fatality
A 40-year-old male from Ladysmith in KwaZulu-Natal passed away at home.
Health officials say he presented with Mpox-like symptoms, including a rash all over his body, and never went to hospital.
His test results came back positive on Sunday.
The other two cases have been confirmed in Gauteng, on patients with no international travel history.
The Health Department has now allayed fears of possible travel restrictions or lockdowns.
