PRETORIA - An education bill is causing friction within the Government of National Unity.
President Cyril Ramaphosa is set to publicly sign the Basic Education Laws Amendment or BELA Bill into law during a ceremony at the Union Buildings in Pretoria.
The DA has called for a halt to that and says the bill may even threaten the GNU.

The bill makes Grade R the new compulsory school starting age and criminalises parents who don’t ensure their children are in school.
The most controversial sections ensure school governing bodies will have less influence and government will have more influence in determining language and admission policies to public schools.
DA MP, Willie Aucamp discussed this with eNCA.
