WATCH | Gauteng Premier wants township taverns made safer

JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi has reiterated his commitment to spending 60% of the province's budget in townships.

The Gauteng Premier says his views about alcohol have not changed, but his personal view can't come before township development.

He wants smarter taverns that would include metal detectors, Wi-Fi and top tier ablution facilities.

Lesufi, under fire for announcing the 'Tavern of the Future' initiative, believes tarven's in townships can be made safer.
