CAPE TOWN - Civil society organisation Defend Our Democracy says next year’s general elections must be closely monitored to safeguard their integrity.

The organisation launched the Election Watch campaign in Johannesburg on Thursday.

Defend Our Democracy says that while the Independent Electoral Commission previously ran successful elections, state capture, corruption, and lack of government accountability have plunged South Africa into a crisis.
