JOHANNESBURG - Authorities are on high alert along the N3 route between Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.

Another cold front is expected to hit parts of KwaZulu-Natal, Free State and the Eastern Cape.

Over a week ago, these provinces experienced extreme weather, leaving travellers stranded.

Both the Free State and KZN governments have established satellite stations between Harrismith and Van Reenen's Pass along the N3.
