CAPE TOWN - At least 500 residents from the Monwabisi Park informal settlement in Khayelitsha will be temporarily relocated to a school facility, while assessments continue in other districts of Cape Town.
Human Settlements Minister, Mmamoloko Kubayi, says she has approached her Western Cape counterpart about providing serviced land as a lasting solution to the housing issue.
Meanwhile, Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis says the city does not have enough space to construct homes for the thousands of affected people.
However, building materials will be supplied to people whose homes were damaged by storms.
eNCA’s Nobesuthu Hejana has all the details in the video above.
