MADRID - The Blitzboks put on a disappointing act at the Madrid Sevens this weekend after settling for sixth place.
The Springbok Sevens only won one match this weekend when they beat Australia Sevens to book a spot in the fifth-place playoffs.
However, they once again lost to Ireland, a side who also beat them in the Pool stage.
The Irish ran in two tries to lead 12-0 at half-time.
South African Men’s Sevens side managed a solitary try late in the second half through Impi Visser although the writing was already on the wall.
With the all-important Repechage qualifier in Monaco next month, the Blitzboks will need a better showing to qualify for the Olympic Games in Paris.
