JOHANNESBURG - Local athletes continue to raise the country’s flag high.
On Tuesday, South Africans welcomed home the fastest teenager in the world, Bayanda Walaza.
Walaza completed the country’s first sprint double at a major World Athletics event at junior level.
The World Under20 champion won the 100metres and 200metres sprints in Lima, Peru.
In the month of August Walaza, who is in Grade 12, won an Olympic silver medal at the Paris Olympics.
