URC | Lions pass Scarlets test

SWANSEA - The Lions finally got off the mark in the United Rugby Championship.

They took on the Scarlets in Llanelli on Saturday.

The Johannesburg-based franchise trailed 10-7 at the interval before scoring two tries in the second half.

With the hosts having extended their advantage by three points after the restart, the Lions looked dead and buried.

But Henco van Wyk took full advantage of a Richard Kriel charge down two minutes from time before Sanele Nohamba added the extras for a morale boosting win.

It finished 23-24 in favour of the Lions who climbed to 12th on the standings after four rounds of matches.
