Is South Africa close to hosting a Formula One Grand Prix?

JOHANNESBURG - South Africa wants to host a Formula One race and the drivers want Africa to be included in the World Championship.

Sports, Arts and Culture Minister Gayton McKenzie has met with the FIA and F1 leadership.

Is it just a matter of when, and not if it will happen?

The 2025 Formula One calendar has been released, so at the earliest, it could only be in 2026 when we could hear the South African national anthem play out ahead of a Grand Prix.
