SAN ANTONIO - South Africa’s Matthys J. Daffue was in a five-way share of second place at the PGA Tour’s Texas Open when play was suspended due to darkness.
This comes after the start of first-round play was delayed by fog in the morning, preventing the afternoon half of the field from finishing their rounds on Thursday.
Justin Lower was five under through nine holes with three birdies, which includes a 19-foot putt and an eagle.
He is trailed by a pack of five, among them is Matt Kuchar, who carded an opening round of 68.
Meanwhile, Dauffe’s double-bogey at the par-4 hole 1 was his only blemish for the day on his way to an opening round of 68.
The 34-year-old Daffue is seeking his first PGA Tour victory.
Padraig Harrington, Roberto Diaz and Patrick Rodgers are among the chasers at number two.
