JOHANNESBURG - It’s just over a month before the Summer Olympics get underway in Paris,
and SASCOC has added additional names and sporting codes for Team SA.
The Olympic body has also announced further financial incentives for medallists.
The likes of Nadine Roos, Akani Simbine, Shaun Maswangani, and many others qualified a while ago.
Some of the events that will feature South African athletes are track and field, cycling, fencing, sevens rugby and many more.
South Africa’s representation has been increased to an impressive 15 codes.
Added athletes are Johanita Scholtz, a double African Games gold medallist in badminton, Rio bronze medallist Henri Schoeman, and rower John Smith.
SASCOC president Barry Hendricks says this latest announcement is a testament to the growing prowess of Team SA.
The Paris Games begin on the 26th of July until the 11th of August.
