JOHANNESBURG - Norwegian football fans have decided to be good samaritans and aid former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Emile Baron.
Supporters of Baron's former club Lillestrom SK, where Baron spent six years between 1999 and 2005 have reportedly raised close to R2-million for him.
This after learning about the 43-year-old going broke on a Norwegian channel TV2 last month.
Baron is living in poverty and relies on handouts to feed his family after a premature retirement in 2013 due to injury.
He was on the books of the now-defunct Bidvest Wits at the time.
Baron made his professional debut with Hellenic in 1996 before joining Lillestrom.
On his return, he linked up with Kaizer Chiefs and also had a stint with SuperSport United.
