LOS ANGELES - LeBron James is set to join a selected list of players to participate in the NBA beyond 40 years of age.
The LA Lakers star turned 40 on Monday and is set to reach a unique milestone.
When he takes to court against Cavaliers on 1 January, he will become the first player ever in the NBA to play in his teens, 20's, 30's and 40s.
James is a four-time champion and the league's four-time Most Valuable Player among other achievements.
However, he is not the oldest player to have been involved in the NBA.
That record belongs to Nat Hickey, who was 46 years old when he featured for Providence Steamrollers on 28 January, 1948.
