JOHANNESBURG - The news that South Africa won't be hosting a Formula One Grand Prix in 2023, will be a bitter pill to swallow for fans.
This after widespread speculation and excitement that South Africa would be added to next year's expanded calendar.
F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali's arrival in the country, after the Azerbaijan GP, also added fuel to the fire.
But it's now known that Kyalami won't be welcoming the likes of Sir Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen next year.
SA racing champion Bashobonke Sipuka believes the country shouldn't lose hope just yet.
