JOHANNEBURG - Bafana Bafana have seemingly evaded an own goal and have their path to next year's FIFA World Cup firmly in their hands.
This is after a report in Netwerk24 quoted SAFA vice-president Bennett Bailey, that Lesotho will take no action against Bafana Bafana for fielding an ineligible player in Polokwane.
In their 2-nil win, Bafana Bafana fielded Teboho Mokoena who was meant to be serving a suspension, for two yellow cards in previous World Cup qualifiers.
In a message sent to Safa by Lesotho Football Association secretary general Mokhosi Mohapi,
the LFA stated that, "We are not considering any action against Bafana Bafana".
Mohapi's alleged message to SAFA comes on the back of him confirming that his organisation,
had sent a query to FIFA and CAF on Mokoena's case.
If Bafana Bafana are to avoid a red card due to their administrative blunder, then they will be confident of making it through to the World Cup.
They enjoy a five point lead at the top of Group C, after their two 2-nil win over Benin on Tuesday night.
