CT Spurs deny Pirates maximum points

JOHANNESBURG - Orlando Pirates were denied maximum points by Cape Town Spurs.

The Buccaneers were coming from a big victory in the Nedbank Cup in their last outing.

Youngster Relebohile Mofokeng opened the scoring after 12 minutes at the Orlando Stadium with a curler.

The home side were dominant throughout the encounter but failed to double the lead.

That came back to bite them as Gabriel Gadiel Michael restored parity for the visitors 14 minutes from time.

Michael's left-footed strike could be the contender for the goal of the season.

There was drama in added time as Pirates were denied what looked like a legitimate penalty by referee Eugene Mdluli.

This after Denwin Farmer fouled Zakhele Lepasa in the 18-area box.

In the end, though both sides settled for a point.
