JOHANNESBURG - South Africa’s Olympic medal sprint sensation Bayanda Walaza, is collecting more accolades.
The 18-year-old matric pupil from Curro, in Pretoria, clinched the under-20 men’s world 100m crown in Lima, Peru on Thursday morning.
The matriculant made the quickest start and managed to keep the lead down the track, bagging the gold medal after finishing in 10.19 seconds.
South Africa was well represented, with 19-year-old Bradley Nkoana, who was also part of the
Olympic relay team, finishing third to collect bronze in 10.26 seconds.
Thailand’s Puripol Boonson bagged the Silver medal with a time of 10.22.
