JOHANNESBURG - Prudence Sekgodiso flew the South African flag high at the World Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China.
She powered to a gold medal for Team SA in the 800 metre final, getting the better of Ethiopian Nigist Getachew with a winning time of 1 minute, 58.40 seconds.
Defending champion Tsige Duguma was nowhere near the medals, finishing the race stone last.
Sekgodiso becomes the first SA woman to clinch a gold medal in the 800m at the tournament.
