PARIS - Team South Africa bagged its fourth medal of the Paris Olympics after Tatjana Smith finished second in the 200-metres breaststroke final.
Smith came into the race as the defending champion and chasing the historic feat of becoming the first women to do the double by winning the 100 and 200metres breaststroke events.
However, it wasn't to be for Smith as US swimmer Kate Douglass just managed to beat her, with Tes Schouten from the Netherlands getting bronze.
Smith's compatriot and teammate, Kaylene Corbett finished in seventh place.
Earlier on Thursday evening in the men's 200metres backstroke final, Pieter Coetze could only manage seventh place.
