The Arthur Kaplan liquidation saga, which featured on #TheDeviSow recently is riddled with claims of the pointing of firearms, threats to liquidators and brazen jewellery heists allegedly totalling 50 million rands. Hoosein Mohamed, who stands at the centre of these claims was arrested and somehow, found himself in custody, at a private hospital. That’s where we found him, making telephone calls, while police looked on. Now, a twist in the tale. Hoosein recently managed to quietly get bail on a Friday afternoon … we catch up with Hoosein at court.

At the end of April this year, Sunshine Hospital, a private hospital in Benoni, Gauteng, had to close its doors despite providing a vital service to road accident victims without medical aids - a service, South Africa’s over-burdened and under-resourced state hospitals often struggle to provide. The reason? The Road Accident Fund stopped paying. After protracted legal battles, the RAF had no choice but to oblige. With cash flowing in again, Sunshine Hospital is back in business.
