JOHANNESBURG - Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa has painted a bleak picture of the country's current power crisis.
But energy expert Hilton Trollip says the minister didn't say anything new. He also failed to explain how the issue is being tackled.
Ramakgopa was giving an update on the implementation of the country's energy plan.

"I'm afraid no substantial action on what was a really good plan put on the table by the president," Trollip said.
Trollip said there is all talk and no action.
"On top of that, the plan's information that he gave us, nothing new except the Land Bank's funding programme.

"We knew about Kusile, we knew about emergency procurement, we knew about foreign procurement.
"But those are just plans and what's going to be done," Trollip said.
"He's been in office as Electricity Minister from March. Lots of talk, lots of hot air.
"No action. Lots of load-shedding and the situation gets worse."
