JOHANNESBURG - The percentage of women in Parliament has increased by just 1 percent according to the 2024 Women’s Political Participation barometer.
Nigeria has the lowest percentage of female MPs, at 4-percent, while Rwanda has the highest at 61-percent.
The 2021 barometer indicates that at this rate, gender equality won't be attained until the year 2100.
Susan Tolmay, from the Gender and Governance Associate at Gender Links, discussed this with eNCA.
