CAPE TOWN - South Africa faces a water security crisis.
Unevenly distributed water resources, climate change, and deteriorating infrastructure threaten to tip the country from being water-stressed, to water-scarce.
According to the Blue Drop Audit Report for 2023, the quality of drinkable water is compromised and almost 50% of all water distribution systems pose health risks due to bacteria or other pathogens in the drinking water supply.
