JOHANNESBURG - Ten thousand new recruits will be trained to serve as men and women in blue to fight crime.
The training is expected to begin in April next year.
Criminologist Kholofelo Rakubu believes the recruitment process is flawed.
She says government should be prioritising criminal justice graduates to attract more qualified candidates.
"A graduate that is fresh from writing assignments will clearly write a thorough statement that will lead to convictions because the amount of cases that are unresolved are due to statements taken," Rakubu said.
"So can the police listen to us on this one. These 10,000, you've got nothing to lose."
