Public Procurement Act met with mixed reaction

JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa has signed into law legislation, that aims to streamline and regulate public procurement, including preferential procurement, by all organs of state.

The Public Procurement Bill will regulate the sourcing, buying, and payment of goods and services by all state departments.

So far, Cosatu has welcomed it saying it is not only a positive step towards fighting corruption but it’s also a powerful weapon to support local businesses.

The Supply Chain Council is also hopefully, noting that the legislation is poised to Heighten Efficiency and Transparency
