Ekurhuleni Council | New Mayor for Ekurhuleni
EKURHULENI - Ekurhuleni has a new mayor – the third in three years. The metro's been rocked by instability since the local government elections in 2021.
Initially, a DA Mayor was in charge, until the EFF and ANC decided to support a candidate from a small party last year.
Sivuyile Ngodwana from the AIC came in as mayor. He was then booted out nearly two weeks ago after Action SA tabled a motion against him.
The AIC was left fuming after the ANC abstained in that vote, allowing him to go.
