JOHANNESBURG - Government has declared the first Saturday in November as National Children's Day.
This is to raise awareness and promote the realisation of children's rights in South Africa.

Luke Lamprecht from Women and Men Against Child Abuse says that the rights of children have regressed.
"Children's issues have become subsumed under the Gender Based Violence and the 16 days of activism and child protection week," he said.
"Very seldom do we see children celebrated."
