PRETORIA - Donations to political parties have soared as they battle it out ahead of the election on the 29th May.
The IEC revealed in a declarations report published on Friday that parties received a record R172 million between the 1st January and the end of March.

Since the Party Funding Act came into effect, parties have been obliged to disclose all donations above R100 000.
Leading the pack with the highest figures is the DA at above R65 million, followed by Change Starts Now with R35.8 million, the IFP with R20 million and the ANC with R16.7 million.
Rise Mzansi was close behind with R15 million.
ActionSA declared R10.5 million and the EFF R2.6 million.
