JOHANNESBURG - Innocence Lost is a play aiming to increase awareness of human trafficking.
It's a collaboration between Act Africa, the Department of Social Development and the National Children's Theatre.
Since 2022, the play has been presented in three rounds.
The play, which won a 2023 Naledi Award, is based on an actual account of a child brought into South Africa from Rwanda shortly before the Covid-19 outbreak.
According to the Global report on Trafficking in Persons, minors make up 29% of trafficking victims.
Forced labour is the second most common reasons for human trafficking.
Hilary Leong from Act Africa and Tamara Guhrs from the National Children's Theatre discussed this with eNCA.
