JOHANNESBURG - South Africa must adapt its infrastructure to withstand severe weather.
Climate change expert Guy Midgley says this is needed urgently as he warns of more extreme weather events.

He says there is a silver lining as building better infrastructure will create thousands of jobs.
"I will say that there is no weather event or climatic event today that is unaffected in some way by climate change," he said.
"We've added so much energy into the ocean and the atmosphere that it affects every aspect of the climate now and will continue to do so for decades to come."
