Its profound effects can be seen all over the globe and South Africa is not being spared.
It's been hit by extreme weather that has caused widespread devastation.

And now it seems government is finally recognising the urgency to act.
According to climate modelling studies, South Africa will be prone to more heavy rainfall, heatwaves and droughts with potentially disastrous consequences for agriculture and food security.
The Presidential Climate Commission says the country is now entering a new and more demanding phase of climate action.
