JOHANNESBURG - Equal Education is calling on the government to urgently address concerns around the Basic Education Laws Amendment Bill and speed up its finalisation.

The bill proposes to amend the South African Schools Act and the Employment of Educators Act.

However, Equal Education argues the bill criminalises parents.

Public submissions on the law closed on Wednesday and the bill is now before the National Council of Provinces.
