JOHANNESBURG - France is collaborating with the African Union and the Vaccine Alliance (GAVI) to raise over a billion US dollars to speed up the manufacturing of vaccines on the continent.
Last month, various African heads of state, the World Health Organisation and other role players met in Paris to discuss this.

The African Vaccine Manufacturing Accelerator has committed to helping African countries achieve vaccine independence by producing 60% of their required doses by 2040.
