Discussion | Affordable housing in SA remains a challenge

JOHANNESBURG - The provision of adequate and affordable housing in South Africa still remains a challenge and with home loan rejections averaging at a rate of 68 percent exacerbating the level of inequality in country ranked among the most unequal countries in the world.

According to the Office of Disclosure, the average home loan approved per historically disadvantaged persons was just over half a million compared to previously advantaged persons at an average mortgage value of R2.5-million. 

Dr Tshifhiwa Mphigalale, the deputy chairperson of the Office of Disclosure, discussed this with eNCA.
