JOHANNESBURG - South Africa is grappling with a growing issue known as the "extortion economy," where individuals of all ages, including teenagers and working adults, are being targeted for money through intimidation and threats.
This problem affects not only students but also businesses and workers with many victims reluctant to report these crimes due to a lack of faith in the police.
