BOSA takes legal action against government over water crisis

JOHANNESBURG - BOSA deputy president Nobuntu Hlazo-Webster, has announced the party's plans to take legal action against government.

The party wants the courts to adjudicate on the ongoing water crisis in the country. South Africans are growing increasingly frustrated over inadequate and erratic water supply.

Residents of Evaton, South of Gauteng in the embattled Emfuleni Local Municipality grapple with a decade-long struggle for access to safe drinking water. 

In Claremont, West of Johannesburg, residents are also battling a long standing water crisis despite repeated promises from city officials.

BOSA says the government has failed to maintain the water infrastructure and this has led to the collapse of water supply systems in a number of areas. 

The party also puts the blame on corrupt officials that have used the water crisis as their way of stealing funds intended to assist affected communities.
