'Bogus' doctor | Warning over authenticity of online content

JOHANNESBURG - Don’t assume anything you see online is true until you can prove it for yourself.

This is the warning from social media law expert, Emma Sadleir.

She was responding to the much-publicised case against "bogus" TikTok doctor, Matthew Lani.

He was arrested over the weekend for impersonating a doctor.

The case against him was however withdrawn due to lack of evidence.

"Presume everything you read online is not true," Sadleir said.

"We’re living in a very political time, presume everyone you meet online is not who they say they are."
