JOHANNESBURG - Greater participation in elections will lead to a stronger democracy.
That's according to chair of the Institute of Election Management Services in Africa, Terry Tselane.
But he says this job should not be left to the Electoral Commission alone.
"The political parties and political leaders have got to understand the enormous responsibilities that they shoulder in terms of making sure that they can believe in democracy, that they can believe in electoral processes," Tselane said.
"It is not only the responsibility of the Electoral Commission to try and tell people of the importance of democracy and participating in the elections."
