PARLIAMENT - The DA have labelled Wednesday's postponement of the budget speech a "victory for the people of South Africa."
Leader John Steenhuisen says the unprecedented move was due to a push back by the party opposing the planned two-percentage point VAT hike.
The DA's Mark Burke joined eNCA to discuss the party's claims that the decision to postpone was a victory for the DA.
GNU parties, also stated their opposition to the proposed tax hike in statements and interviews on Wednesday.
The IFP released a statement saying, "As a party committed to responsible governance and economic justice, the IFP does not support a proposed 2% increase in VAT. This position was strongly conveyed in Cabinet today."
The UDM, notably stated their representative had been excluded from the discussions to postpone the tabling of the budget.

The GOOD Party also publicised a statement on X, calling the decision to postpone a "mature" one.
