National Assembly Speaker, Thoko Didiza, announced the speech has been moved to March.

Parties in the Government of National Unity were not in agreement when it came to proposals made in Godongwana's speech.

Cogta Minister, Velenkosini Hlabisa first shared his perspective as a member of the IFP, one of the parties making up the GNU, saying, "From what transpired, apparently, all political parties were not consulted long ahead in relation to the VAT 2% increase."

"So that is why there was a deadlock around that issue because other than that, we agree," he said.
