CAPE TOWN - The debate over Western Cape independence has reignited controversy, this time centering around Phil Craig, a British national and co-founder of the Cape Independence Advocacy Group.
Craig, who has lived in South Africa for over 20 years, is seeking citizenship, but ActionSA’s Lerato Ngobeni is calling for his application to be rejected.
Ngobeni argues that Craig’s advocacy for Western Cape secession shows he is not of good character and does not truly wish to be part of South Africa.
Meanwhile a petition calling for his deportation has also gained nearly 50,000 signatures.
