Zimbabwe migration | Harare dismisses child trafficking reports

HARARE - The Zimbabwe government has dismissed reports of the trafficking of 400 children through the Beitbridge border post earlier this week.

Officials have pointed out, however, that they're investigating and working closely with South African authorities to ensure the legal movement of its citizens between the two countries.

But social commentators say the government has to investigate reports of the trafficking of children, adding that the economic meltdown is causing citizens to flock to neighbouring countries.

 

An estimated three million Zimbabweans are believed to be living and working in South Africa both legally and illegally.
