Zim govt to help repatriate citizens

JOHANNESBURG - The Zimbabwean government has launched an online registration platform to ensure a smooth transition for citizens who will be returning home once South African exemption permits expire in June.

Zimbabwe's Ambassador to South Africa David Hamadziripi says they are not sure how many would like to return.

However, the South African government will ultimately decide who is permitted to enter and remain within South Africa.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe Exemption Permit holders have welcomed their government's decision to assist citizens to return home.

This comes amid uncertainty after the South African government announced that permits would not be renewed.

A lawyer for some of the permit holders says legal action challenging the decision will continue.
