JOHANNESBURG - Today marks exactly a year since the passing of Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu.
The Nobel Laureate passed away aged 90 in Cape Town.
He had been suffering from prostate cancer.
At the time of his passing, President Cyril Ramaphosa described him as a patriot without equal.
He also described him as a leader of principle and pragmatism who gave meaning to biblical insight.
Tutu coined the term Rainbow Nation following the country’s first democratic elections.
He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984 for his role as a unifying leader in the campaign to end apartheid.
