PRETORIA - The High Court in Pretoria has ordered the unblocking of access to the disused mine shaft in Stilfontein, to allow emergency services to reach scores of illegal miners.

The zama-zamas have stayed underground for fear of arrests, and have now run out of food and water.
Government has made it clear that it will not send aid to illegal miners, who are involved in criminal activity and, police have ruled out sending officers underground due to safety concerns.
So what exactly is the plan to resolve this impasse?
