CAPE TOWN - Battle lines have been drawn between the City of Cape Town and Santaco.
The taxi alliance is vowing to continue its strike action indefinitely.
The 7-day action was meant to end on Wednesday, but the council says officials are still intimidating operators.
This means commuters will have to once again find alternative ways of getting around.
Meanwhile, Santaco is approaching the courts to have impounded taxis released.
“We’re not operating. We’re not gonna operate until we’ve filled the papers in court," said Gershon Geyer.
"We’d rather take this route to court than to expose our members to his intimidation."
