CAPE TOWN - A Cape Town developer has been slapped with a R1-million fine for building a block of flats illegally.
A decision to demolish the double-storey building consisting of 22 units is yet to be determined.
The property authorisation is for a single dwelling, and the developer has failed to apply for a rezoning permit.
At the same time, the owner of the building, Steven Kampies, is accusing the city of failing to approve his application despite numerous attempts during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
