CAPE TOWN - Dam levels in the Western Cape have increased significantly.
In addition, the water and sanitation department is warning community members to take precautions during downpours.
In a statement, residents are being warned to stay away from low-lying bridges, to avoid parking under trees, to make sure windows are closed while driving and to drive slower during rainy weather.
The department says it is closely monitoring the heavy rains and will continue to update the public accordingly.
